I grew up on Lake Texoma, and enjoy being around the water and in the woods. I went to school for wilderness emergency medicine. My wife, Amanda, and I have a two year old boy named Hunter, and we love spending time outdoors as a family. When I'm not here at Camp All Saints, I love to go canoeing, mountain biking, and fishing. My favorite thing about Camp All Saints is being able to see the kids get outside, and watching them gain a new appreciation for nature.
Waterfront Specialist - Kelly Poe
I like to tell people that my dream job dropped into my backyard! I am a local to Pottsboro, and this Camp has essentially been a part of my backyard, since I have spent a lot of time riding my horses and hiking on these trails over the years.
I also have a passion for working with, and teaching, kids! I started teaching Red Cross swimming during the summers while I was attending College, and have been teaching ever since. I started working here in 2007 and have loved every minute. My favorite part about this job is hiking around with the kids and showing them all the things I love about being outside, and getting them to appreciate it as well! And of course, the water still calls my name so during the summer you will find me down at the waterfront, still teaching kids about the things I love the most!
Of course, part of being a good teacher requires having a solid education and then keeping those skills sharp by always improving both our training and our program! We base a lot of our science classes on the training we received in Project Wet, Wild, and Globe. I received my High and Low Ropes Challenge course certification in 2008, and have recertified every year since then. In 2007 I certified as a Level 1 USA Archery Instructor, and in 2016 took some additional training and got my Level 2!
As I mentioned before, I spend a lot of time at the water; and what water instructor would be very helpful without being a Lifeguard. I was already a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) through my college years, and so it was a simple thing to add Lifeguard to it in 2008. In 2009 I decided I would be more helpful if I became a Lifeguard Instructor as well. Now I train all of our Waterfront Lifeguard staff! We also have canoes, kayaks, and Sailboats J and I was excited to finally receive my Small Boat Instructor certification from US Sailing in 2015. All in all, life at camp keeps me pretty busy and up to date on all the latest training!
James "Jimmy" Cook
Howdy! My name is Jimmy Cook, I’ve been a JOLT instructor for over a year now. Growing up I was always an indoor person, but the first time I set foot on Camp All Saints as a summer camp counselor I’ve been hooked. I’m so happy to have the opportunity to teach kids here, and to have learned the skills of being a lifeguard, run high and low ropes, and as well as be a Level 2 Archery instructor. I hope to see you soon here at Camp All Saints!
